“Science. It’s Everywhere!”
21 New Communities Join the Partnership for Science Literacy
Promoting the idea of “Science. It’s Everywhere!,” the Partnership for Science Literacy has expanded its national outreach through new communities across the country. Joining these efforts now are:

Triad Region, NC
These communities recently created free online guides (in English and Spanish) for parents and families listing local neighborhood resources for science education. These online partners join Austin, TX; Chicago, IL; Lehigh Valley, PA; Los Angeles, CA; and Tampa, FL, the original communities in the Partnership for Science Literacy which had also produced local guides.
Each version of the Family Guide to Science provides useful information and hints on science activities for parents and families everywhere. The community-specific guides list an array of local resources such as science centers and museums, nature centers and botanical gardens, zoos, aquariums, local parks, science organizations, schools, and organizations. A generic, national guide is also available. The guides complement the “Science. It’s Everywhere!” Web site at http://www.ScienceEverywhere.org , which includes brief articles on topics like "Why Science Matters," "Science in Schools," and "Be Involved”; fun hands-on science activities, information on national and local science and mathematics education standards, links to science museums around the world, resources for teachers, and more.
The guides and the multilingual Web site are vital parts of the Partnership for Science Literacy, a public awareness initiative that seeks to empower parents and families—particularly in Hispanic/Latino, African-American, and other diverse communities—to take a more active role in their children’s science learning. The initiative is built around four key ideas: (1) Science education is for every child, (2) Science is around you in your life every day, (3) Parents and families can make a huge difference helping their children with science education, and (4) Science is a lot of fun!
Developed with start-up funding from the National Science Foundation and presented by AAAS and TryScience.org, the Partnership for Science Literacy campaign also includes Ad Council-sponsored radio, television, and print public service announcements to help bring science and families together. See
